# Federal, State & Intergovernmental Relations Policy Committee – Oct. 15, 2026

The Federal, State & Intergovernmental Relations Policy Committee of The Aurora Channel met on October 15, 2026. The committee received federal and state legislative updates; no contracts, vendor selections, or procurement awards were considered. Staff reported that Senate appropriations bills and Aurora’s congressional directed spending requests had not yet been released. The requests include roof replacement at the Aurora Regional Navigation Campus. A separate road project was described as having $15.6 million in the House version and $10 million in the Senate version, with the city hoping the House amount remains in the final bill. A pending federal permitting package would address electric transmission and other energy projects, but had not yet been considered by the Senate.

State-level updates covered potential legislation on data centers, transportation fees and road funding, and other issues. Aurora Water presented a proposed bill to preserve water courts’ role in decisions when agricultural water rights are changed to municipal or industrial use; the committee agreed to let Representative Carter begin the bill-drafting process. Separately, the committee approved the prior meeting’s minutes. No spending or procurement authorization was approved.
