# Joint Meeting with CEDC and Planning Board - 10/07/2026

The Town of Bridgewater’s joint Community and Economic Development Committee (CEDC) and Planning Board meeting on October 7, 2026, held public hearings on two proposed zoning ordinances. For amendments to the Central Business District regulations, the boards recommended sending the ordinance back to Town Council with two additional wording changes to align section 10.6.1 with site-plan review rules by including commercial and industrial uses. The ordinance also includes a water-impact-study requirement. CEDC approved the recommendation 3–0, and the Planning Board voted in favor; a resident supported the water study and changes intended to preserve downtown character.

For the proposed high-intensity data-center zoning amendment, the boards recommended that Town Council retain the 5,000-square-foot threshold and revise the criteria to cover peak electrical loads of 2 megawatts or greater and water use of 5,000 gallons per day or more, from either public or private sources. The Planning Board and CEDC approved recommendations with those amendments. Public comments raised concerns about infrastructure impacts, noise, loopholes, and potential taxpayer costs, and suggested additional safeguards for future consideration. No procurements, contract awards, vendor selections, or spending decisions were identified.
