# Sustainability Commission 10/13/2026

The City of Englewood Sustainability Commission met on October 13, 2026. The commission reviewed the ColoradoScape native-yard pilot, which has enrolled 44 households (23 certified), exceeding its original goal of 25. Members discussed seeking City Council support to continue the program and request about $2,000 for next year, including community events and outreach. Staff noted that the pilot’s $2,000 this year was covered by Earth Day sponsorships of just over $3,000, rather than the general fund. The commission discussed preparing a Council presentation and possible outreach, including workshops, volunteer yard projects, videos, and door hangers. No vote on the proposed future funding was taken. Separately, staff reported that an application for approximately $700,000 to fund residential and commercial energy assessments had passed its first phase, but no award was confirmed.

On other spending and project matters, staff said a contract with the state for waste education and outreach was in place, while a selection between two prospective providers for related education and outreach work was still underway; no provider had been selected. Parks and bond-project updates included ongoing pool and Emerson Park construction and an already-approved Phase 2 irrigation contract. The commission approved the prior meeting’s minutes and voted to work toward Bird City certification. Members also discussed recycling education, state recycling requirements, and future sustainability events; no additional procurement award or purchasing decision was reported.
