# Conservation Commission 10-14-2026

Reading Conservation Commission meeting held October 14, 2026. The Commission approved a proposed 38-foot footbridge in Kerchin Woods as an Eagle Scout project by a 7–0 vote. Materials were estimated at $2,100, to be covered by donations and fundraising, with no cost to the town. The Commission also approved the Parker Middle School turf-field replacement Order of Conditions (DEP file 270-0812), with one member opposed. Conditions included a guarantee of no crumb rubber and use of Brockfill or an equivalent infill, controls on turf staging and street cleanup during removal, and Commission review of the rodent-control plan. No turf-field contract award or vendor selection was discussed.

The Commission issued an Order of Conditions for the MBTA culvert replacement near 62 Willow Street (file 27815), subject to finalizing the town–MBTA memorandum of understanding before work begins, shielding nighttime work lights, and replacing trees, including river birches and a white oak. It also issued an order for 81 Causeway Road (DEP file 270-0814), with conditions including capping a six-inch perforated pipe and plant-survivability and debris-removal requirements. The Birch Meadow Park Phase II compliance request was deferred pending a site visit, and 695 Pearl Street was continued to October 28. Separately, staff noted that approximately $2,500 in plantings may need to be included in a future budget request; about $500 remained in the current budget. No contract awards or procurement bids were identified.
