# 10/14/26 Emergency Services Board for St. Mary's County

The St. Mary’s County Emergency Services Board met on October 14, 2026. The board received an update on the three-phase in-station CAD alerting integration: notification and incident-data components are active, and IT is developing an API to make CAD data available to different vendors’ systems. The county has authorized funds for a server and placed an order; completion is anticipated by April. For backup-center network redundancy, the county requested quotes from Comcast, Breezeline, and Verizon for 10-gigabit lines, with no vendor selected or contract awarded. The FY28 fire-rescue budget process will consolidate submissions through Emergency Services, including equipment requests, capital improvement plans, and other forms; equipment and CIP submissions are due November 12. The department also reported that a request for applications for volunteer cancer screenings is under review.

The board approved a motion to write a letter urging funding for additional 911 call-taker staffing, but no appropriation was made at this meeting. Four of eight requested contract dispatchers are on board, and two dispatcher vacancies remain. Twelve scholarship applications were reported in good standing; eligible recipients are to receive $3,333.33 each after completing coursework and meeting grade requirements. The board also approved forwarding a proposed ordinance change to include deputy chiefs in the Tier 3 operational leadership benefits; assistant treasurers were not included in the proposal. No procurement contract award was identified.
