# Planning Commission - October 14, 2026

The Ascension21 Planning Commission meeting on October 14, 2026, addressed subdivision applications, drainage-code amendments, and commission bylaws. The commission approved two Stafford family partitions and the final plat for Black Bayou Estates; discussion clarified that Black Bayou will use a private well because extending public water was considered unreasonably costly. The commission also approved the preliminary plat for the 83-lot Daigle Point subdivision, subject to a second access connection to Daigle Road and completion of the LA 929/Daigle Road roundabout before certificates of occupancy are issued. The traffic study found no additional roadway or turn-lane improvements were warranted, assuming the roundabout is completed. The applicant’s representative said the applicant was unwilling to make the requested plat changes, but the conditional motion passed. No contract awards, vendor selections, or procurement spending were identified.

The commission recommended drainage-code changes to the Parish Council: proposed changes to items 1 and 2 were removed, leaving the current code in place, while revised language for items 3 and 4 was recommended. The commission also approved bylaw changes providing for officer elections by majority vote with a quorum present, at the first meeting of the calendar year. Staff reported that developers have two years after construction documents are approved to begin construction. Members were appointed to the Master Plan Advisory Committee, and the public was encouraged to apply for citizen participation in the Unified Land Development Code review.
