# Rialto USD Board of Education Meeting - October 14, 2026

The Rialto Unified School District Board of Education regular meeting was held October 14, 2026. The board unanimously approved two closed-session personnel actions: the appointment of Dr. Aldo Velasco as Cole Middle School principal, effective date to be determined, and an action involving a certificated employee that included authorization for a 30-day dismissal notice. The board also unanimously approved the consent calendar and voted unanimously on listed expulsion reinstatements. No contract awards, bids, vendor selections, or purchasing approvals were identified.

District staff presented plans to jointly develop the next Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) and 2027–2030 strategic plan, while maintaining them as separate documents. The LCAP will connect goals and student outcomes to actions, services, and planned expenditures; community engagement is scheduled through spring, with board hearings in May and adoption planned for June. Public and board comments raised concerns about classroom staffing and safety, special education resources, and access to expanded learning, but no spending or procurement action was taken on those matters. A union representative also advocated for Proposition 3, which they said would make existing high-income tax rates permanent and direct much of the revenue to public education; this was advocacy, not a board funding decision.
