# Tooele County Work Session 10/13/26

Tooele County work session on October 13, 2026, focused on proposed 2027 budget projects and equipment purchases. County staff reviewed a roughly $42.7 million project-fund balance, including about $25.3 million associated with 2027 projects, and emphasized that the listed allocations were placeholders for discussion, not approvals. Departments presented requests including $3.121 million for road pavement treatments; $12 million to complete phase 4 of the Deseret Peak master plan; $200,000 to demolish the old archive building and rework campus parking; and a $140,000 ballot-sorting machine, with the clerk estimating the county’s remaining cost at about $48,000 after grants and prior rental spending. The airport also proposed using $160,000 in grant funding for waterline work and requested an airport feasibility study.

Other equipment and facility requests included approximately $40,000 for jail-kitchen equipment, $45,000 for garage doors, senior-center repairs and security cameras, and IT upgrades estimated at $323,000 for Deseret Peak distribution switches, $150,000 for wireless controllers, and $75,000 for a video-archiving server. Roads staff presented replacement vehicles and machinery, including a $330,000 dump truck and snowplow package, as well as additional equipment and a five-year replacement plan. Council members discussed the need for forward-looking replacement schedules and whether to accelerate road construction funding, including for 33rd Parkway. No project or purchase approvals were voted on; the only motion was to adjourn, which passed.
