# City Council Meeting Monday 2025 06 09

The Eau Claire City Council’s June 9, 2025 meeting included its first public discussion of the proposed 2026–2030 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). Staff described a roughly $255 million plan covering city assets and infrastructure, funded through sources including borrowing, grants, vehicle registration fees, room-tax revenue, and savings. Highlighted projects included about $8 million for Fire Station 2, a $5 million promissory note for citywide street improvements, $250,000 for flexible housing, and work on the Galloway Street parking ramp, including an estimated $2–3 million for demolition and about $14 million for a roof. Other projects included a Galloway Street overpass supported by federal grants, park and playground replacements, water-system redundancy, and a public transit safety training facility. Staff said the council would discuss amendments before a scheduled June 24 vote on CIP adoption; no contract awards or procurement votes occurred at this meeting.

Public comments asked the city to consider funding a feasibility study and possible staircase at Mount Simon Park, and raised concerns about parking-ramp noise and the proposed paid-parking rollout, including staffing, enforcement, infrastructure, and communication with downtown businesses. In a subsequent work session, a city-county-community collaborative presented its planning work on homelessness and affordable housing, discussed possible coordination with landlords and service providers, and described next steps toward a community plan. No funding allocation or procurement action was taken on that initiative.
