# Annual Meeting - 9/28/2026

The West Bend School District’s annual meeting and public hearing on the proposed 2026–27 budget was held September 28, 2026. Assistant Superintendent Lenny Hansen presented a proposed balanced general-fund budget and projected a $6.14 mill rate, unchanged for a third consecutive year. He cited projected state aid declining by $1.8 million, a special-education reimbursement shortfall of more than $7 million in the prior year, and enrollment decline as budget pressures. Electors approved the tax-levy resolution by visual count, with two attendees standing in opposition. The total levy is $57,450,759, including $9,997,700 for referendum debt service, $884,254 for community services, and $46,568,805 for the general fund (calculated from the stated total and other allocations). The board is scheduled to adopt the final budget and certify the levy on October 26.

The presentation also reviewed debt and school construction. The district issued $106.25 million in bonds for the 2024 capital-improvement referendum; officials said the district’s upgraded credit rating helped avoid more than $10 million in projected interest costs, and that over 13% of the principal had been paid down in the first 18 months. The superintendent described completed and planned school renovations and construction, including work at Green Tree, Jackson, Silverbrook, and Badger, as well as design work associated with high-school consolidation. No specific contract awards, vendors, or purchasing decisions were identified.
