# SeaTac Regular Council Meeting October 13

The City of SeaTac Regular Council Meeting was held October 13, 2026. Council unanimously authorized an agreement with Sound Transit for $75,530 in betterment costs to install five City-standard streetlights at three locations on International Boulevard/SR 99 as part of the Federal Way Link Extension; the city will maintain the lights, and any cost above the approved amount would return for approval. Council also unanimously adopted a resolution establishing the preferred first-phase alternative for the International Village project, advancing schematic design, community engagement, and program validation. The direction included an $80 million ceiling for City Hall, civic plaza, required parking and possible court space; up to $5 million from lodging-tax funds for the market hall; and about $4 million from the street fund for street and pedestrian improvements. Staff expects further council review of the design and costs during schematic design, likely in June or July 2027.

The city manager reported an $8 million offer to the Port of Seattle to acquire 45 acres of North SeaTac Park, supported by a King County Conservation Futures grant; the city is awaiting the Port’s response. Council referred the Seattle Southside Regional Tourism Authority board appointments and 2027–28 budget to the November 10 meeting, and referred the indigent defense, City Hall security, state lobbyist, and federal lobbyist contracts to the Administration and Finance Committee. The Easy Fiber telecommunications franchise item was deferred to a future meeting. The city also presented its forthcoming website, developed with Anthro-Tech and Granicus, with launch expected the week of October 26. Separately, council unanimously approved a 0.01% sales and use tax for human services, estimated to raise about $250,000 annually starting in 2027, and adopted a resolution supporting the voter-decided 0.1% public safety sales tax measure. Council also unanimously extended the urban-center surface-parking moratorium for six months while permanent regulations are developed.
