# Planning Commission Work Session - October 12, 2026

The Oregon City Planning Commission held a work session on October 12, 2026, to review the city’s contextual housing needs analysis and upcoming housing capacity analysis. Consultants from Echo Northwest, directly appointed for the work through a Department of Land Conservation and Development grant, presented demographic and affordability data, findings from community focus groups, and the state’s six-year housing-planning process. No grant amount or consultant contract value was provided. The analysis will inform future housing policies and a housing production strategy; the city expects to discuss its buildable lands inventory in December and the full set of studies in early spring, with adoption of required studies expected in 2027.

Discussion covered housing affordability, cost burdens, accessible and age-appropriate housing, rental conditions and protections, and how the state’s housing targets compare with Oregon City and peer communities. The commission was asked to assess whether the findings reflect local needs and requested the presentation and a clear packet of questions so members could provide written feedback. The community survey is open through October 31 and is available in Spanish. This was a work session, so no votes were taken and no procurement awards or spending actions were approved.
