# Douglas County Veterans Advisory Committee 10/13/26

The Douglas County Veterans Advisory Committee met on October 13, 2026, and approved the prior meeting minutes unanimously. Members shared updates on Roseburg VA engagement and an upcoming October 19 meeting with Congressman Bentz regarding the proposed veterans home; a veterans’ stand-down; local veteran events and parade preparations; and cemetery matters. The committee also discussed planned Christmas support for military families and wreath placement at the national cemetery. No government contract awards, bid approvals, or purchasing decisions were identified.

Members reported that the September veterans expo generated 90 new claims and that county veteran service offices received approximately $2.1 million in benefit awards in the first quarter; these were veterans’ benefits, not procurement spending. The Oregon Department of Veterans’ Affairs advisory committee discussed future suicide-prevention grants, while county service officers are participating in state discussions about county funding rules. These were updates rather than specific funding approvals. The committee also discussed concerns about private claims company Trajector, which is in bankruptcy, and potential reimbursement for veterans who paid its fees.
