# Microsoft Launches Sensitive Government Cloud Enclaves

Microsoft made Azure Enclave generally available on October 13, 2026, in commercial Azure and Azure for U.S. Government. The service provides managed tools for agencies and contractors to create isolated environments for sensitive workloads, but FedRAMP, DoD Impact Level 4/5/6, and Intelligence Community Directive 503 accreditation efforts are still underway. Availability alone does not establish that a deployment meets those requirements; customers remain responsible for configuring and assessing their workloads.

- Procurement teams should distinguish the service’s general availability from the authorization or accreditation required for a specific government workload.
- Agencies and contractors evaluating Azure Enclave should account for workload configuration and assessment responsibilities, and verify the applicable accreditation status before relying on it for sensitive use cases.
