# Army Establishes Autonomous Systems Command

The U.S. Army is redesignating Futures and Concepts Command as the U.S. Army Futures and Autonomous Systems Command (FASCOM) to coordinate autonomy development, testing, and acquisition. FASCOM’s commander is also expected to serve as the Army’s Portfolio Acquisition Executive for Autonomy, centralizing authority over priority autonomous-systems procurement. Corps-level experimentation will cover capabilities such as autonomous fires, combat vehicles, reconnaissance, watercraft resupply, breaching, and crewed-uncrewed teaming, with priority capabilities targeted for fielding by FY2028. No solicitation, contract award, or funding amount has been announced.

- Suppliers of unmanned systems, robotics, autonomy software, sensors, and integration or testing services can align offerings with the capability areas identified for Army experimentation.
- The acquisition executive role and centralized command indicate a developing Army-wide procurement focus; companies can use corps-level experiments to demonstrate relevant capabilities and inform potential follow-on requirements.
- The separate proposed Defense Department Autonomous Warfare Command remains subject to congressional authorization, so it is not yet a confirmed acquisition channel.
