# Lincoln County Commission October 6, 2026

The Lincoln County Commission meeting on October 6, 2026, included several procurement and budget actions. Commissioners approved the 2027–2031 Highway and Bridge Improvement Plan for submission to the state. It outlines projects including bridge replacements and preservation, road resurfacing and reconstruction, intersection improvements, and annual maintenance; the presentation cited about $720,000 for asphalt patching in 2027 and an estimated $550,000 for the Louise Avenue roundabout work in 2028. The plan anticipates grant funding for several bridge projects. The commission also authorized the highway department to obtain fuel through the South Dakota state contract from different vendors and terminal locations when needed. Separately, commissioners approved the sheriff’s vehicle purchase request: a vehicle priced at $54,191, including add-ons, from Jerry’s Auto Sales under the state bid; four Tahoes are to be surplused, with one transferred and three sold.

The commission approved 2027 employee-benefit recommendations, including switching medical coverage from Health Partners to Wellmark, which was presented as 6.7% below current costs for comparable coverage, and moving specified life and disability coverage to The Standard. A potential justice-center public open house was discussed, but no decision was recorded; the presiding judge and sheriff raised the need to consult the courthouse security committee and keep secure areas restricted. Commissioners also approved applying an anticipated tax credit at a 68% level to 2026 taxes payable in 2027.
