# Disabilities Advisory Commission 4/2/2025

The City of Sacramento Disabilities Advisory Commission meeting on April 2, 2025, included presentations on two infrastructure projects. For the Sutter’s Landing Park ADA River Access Trail, staff and consultant Dalan Engineering described preliminary design, community outreach, and a preferred route featuring a concrete ramp intended to meet ADA requirements. Final design is funded by the California Wildlife Conservation Board; the city is seeking construction funding, with construction readiness anticipated by the end of 2027 if funding is secured. Kayak-rental operations at a planned concession stand remain undecided: staff said private-vendor interest may not support a profitable operation, and city-run options are being explored. Commissioners offered feedback, including support for concrete and preserving the possibility of extending access if additional funding becomes available.

Staff also presented the Vision Zero School Safety project, which proposes near-term safety improvements at seven schools, including upgraded crosswalks, curb ramps, accessible pedestrian signals, signage, and traffic-calming measures. The project was funded through community project funding, and a separate locally funded effort is being developed for additional schools. The commission discussed accessibility and safety considerations, but no project contracts, bids, vendor selections, or spending approvals were presented. The consent calendar was approved by motion; no procurement-specific action was identified.
