# Public Works Meeting (10/12/2026) | LEE'S SUMMIT, MO

The Lee’s Summit Public Works Committee met on October 12, 2026, and unanimously voted to forward several spending and contract items to the City Council. These included a $1,296,500 increase to the WSKF agreement for continued design and construction-administration services for the replacement of Fire Station No. 1, bringing the amended contract to $1,437,980; a $45,267 change order for VF Anderson Builders’ Olivan Orchard Road stormwater project, revising the agreement to $5,736,347.14 and adding 67 days; a $46,629.27 change order for Phoenix Concrete’s FY27 curb-repair program, revising the agreement to $3,987,957.53 and adding 13 days; and a $111,385.93 change order for Idker Inc.’s FY27 mill-and-overlay program, revising the agreement to $4,580,750.15. The committee also advanced a $993,432.78 SERVPRO agreement to renovate the former water operations building for temporary use as a fire station, using a contract competitively solicited by the school district, and approved a city-hall parking-garage repair bid of $95,550 to Pullman SST, Inc. (Bid 2027-006). Members also approved a final change order for the FY24 water-main replacement project; the transcript does not provide its amount. A salt-dome roof replacement was discussed at an estimated $71,000 and advanced for Council consideration.

The committee advanced an agreement with the FAA on potential future operations of an airport control tower, while noting that it does not authorize tower construction; construction is estimated at about $12 million, and the city is pursuing grant funding. Members received updates on the FY27 snow plan and stormwater regulatory reports. Staff said the stormwater sales-tax program may eventually support additional equipment and personnel, with equipment primarily intended for stormwater work and general-fund reimbursement for snow operations. The meeting also covered pavement-program budgeting and the handling of change orders within approved capital-improvement-plan funding. No procurement action was identified for the regulatory reports or customer-satisfaction survey.
