# Heaviside Launches TYR Loitering Munition

Heaviside has launched TYR, a portable loitering munition weighing about 15 pounds and designed for anti-armor and anti-personnel missions. The company describes it as capable of operating in jammed or degraded communications environments, with a range exceeding 25 miles and endurance over 60 minutes; it prices the system at under $100,000. TYR has been tested in Norway, where production is planned, and Heaviside is seeking a U.S. manufacturing site. The signals report no TYR solicitation, government award, or procurement timeline, so the launch is an industry development rather than an announced buying opportunity.

- The Army, Marine Corps, and U.S. Special Operations Command are identified as users whose lightweight-weapon needs TYR is designed to align with; procurement teams can use the announcement to assess the system against relevant operational needs, without treating it as an active solicitation.
- U.S. manufacturers may find a potential domestic production-partner opportunity because Heaviside is seeking a U.S. manufacturing site. No site location, partnership terms, or selection timeline is specified.
- Heaviside’s separate $99 million-ceiling REWSI IDIQ award covers MOTH handheld spectrum analyzers, not TYR. Contractors should distinguish that existing award from any future loitering-munition procurement.
