# Study Session October 7, 2026

The Weber School District Board study session on October 7, 2026, included updates on fleet management, district finances, school fee schedule amendments, and school safety technology. The finance committee reported that its review of a fleet-management RFP remains exploratory; after receiving feedback from the maintenance department, the district plans further internal analysis before making any commitment. The district’s preliminary general fund balance is now projected at about $12 million, up from an earlier estimate of about $5 million, while expenditures for the first three months of the fiscal year are running about 3% lower. The audit is ongoing, and no spending or procurement votes were taken during the study session.

For school safety, staff described a proposed hybrid system integrating existing Audio Enhancement equipment with state-approved Centegix badges. The district has submitted an interest form for state funding; vendor engineering and quotes are pending, so the cost is not yet known. Staff said the approach is expected to allow implementation by July 1, 2027, without district cost for the funded work, while retaining the existing equipment. Earlier estimates discussed by the board included about $660,000 to add panic-alert capability at remaining schools and about $6 million to complete Audio Enhancement, intercom, and alerting systems districtwide. Staff also previewed fee schedule amendments for a later public hearing and board approval; no vote occurred at this session.
