# Special CRA Board Meeting 10.7.2026

The City of Hollywood Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) held a board meeting on October 7, 2026. The board unanimously approved a construction management-at-risk Phase 2 construction services agreement with Burkhart Construction for ADA ramps and stairs east of the seawall, from Crocus Terrace to Magnolia, for an amount of more than $946,000. The work is currently CRA-funded; staff also said it is pursuing grants. A presentation on Charnow Park improvements described $2 million in existing CRA funding and a pending federal grant that could provide another $2 million. Board members offered design feedback—including retaining a central splash pad, adding shade, and preserving space for events—but made no design or procurement award decision. Staff will return with further design work after considering the feedback and grant timing. The existing restrooms were estimated to require $200,000–$300,000 in improvements, and members urged staff to explore funding and an expedited, separate project; no formal funding action was taken.

The board also received updates on beach and stormwater infrastructure, including seawall gate installation, pump stations under construction, and replacement of outfall and stormwater valves. Staff reported that replacing an outfall gate costs about $100,000 per site and that Wapro valve work was expected to be completed by December 2026. Following recent king-tide flooding, board members supported staff examining options for a pilot flood barrier or gate system in a low-lying beach area and returning with recommendations. No contract award or spending vote on that resilience work was recorded.
