# HCPS Presentation- 2026 School Accountability Update - October 8, 2026 Work Session

Henrico County Public Schools’ October 8, 2026 work session reviewed the Virginia School Performance and Support Framework ratings released the previous day and recognized school-level progress. The division reported that distinguished schools nearly tripled over two years, from 10 to 28, while schools identified as needing intensive support decreased from 14 to 8; all HCPS schools achieved full state accreditation. Principals described instructional strategies, interventions, and student supports associated with gains at Mayberry Elementary, Moody Middle, and Varina High, among other schools. No contracts, bids, vendor selections, or purchasing decisions were discussed.

Board members asked how staffing and other resources are allocated according to student and school needs, and administrators described using data, school improvement plans, and school-based discussions to guide support. Staff said a divisionwide needs assessment is underway. Follow-up information was requested on alternate assessment results and the number of students who do not graduate due to SOL requirements, as well as a future presentation on support for students with disabilities and exceptional education students. Funding and staffing needs were raised, but no budget allocation or procurement action was taken.
