# Sustainability Commission - October 9, 2026

The City of Stevens Point Sustainability Commission met on October 9, 2026. Members reviewed results from a city sustainability survey that received nearly 450 responses, discussing public concerns and ideas including data center impacts, water quality, native plantings, composting, safer bike routes, extreme-weather preparedness, and public education. The commission discussed publishing the survey results and improving outreach through the city website, email or newsletter updates, and community events. Members also discussed updating the city’s sustainability plan and preparing to present the commission’s work and survey findings to the Common Council in November. A city sustainability coordinator position was identified as a possible need and a recommendation to support coordination, but no funding decision or spending motion was made.

The commission discussed upcoming member term expirations and ways to publicize possible vacancies and support a transition to new members. It also identified potential future topics, including a debrief of the Common Council meeting and renewable-energy and nature-based planning. Members approved the September 3 meeting minutes and later voted to adjourn. No contracts, vendor selections, procurements, or other spending approvals were identified.
