# Police Oversight & Accountability Commission - 09-08-2026 - City of Vallejo

The City of Vallejo Police Oversight and Accountability Commission met on September 8, 2026, to discuss policies governing public-safety video surveillance, automated license plate readers (ALPRs), and gunshot detection technology. Police staff described the department’s Flock system inventory and use, data retention and sharing controls, audits, and investigative outcomes. Flock contracts were available in the agenda packet, and staff noted that the gunshot-detection contract (number transcribed as 1225 27) is set to expire; no contract award, renewal, purchase, or spending vote occurred. The commission is expected to discuss the technology jointly with the Surveillance Advisory Board on September 15 and later make separate recommendations to the City Council. The commission also discussed strengthening audit practices, including moving audits from an annual to a quarterly cycle, and public concerns about privacy, security, oversight, and surveillance technology.

The commission approved the consent calendar and minutes by vote. In closed session, it reviewed complaints CC26-68, 69, 70, 71, 73, 74, and 75 and made recommendations; it also reviewed investigative report IA2025-03 and agreed with its findings. No procurement action or budget allocation was identified.
