# Preston BOE Meeting- 8-10-26

The Preston County Board of Education meeting on August 10, 2026, included several procurement and spending-related actions. The board approved, 4–0, an agreement with Kanawha County Schools to provide virtual education programming for 2026–27. The superintendent said the full-time virtual program costs about $1,500 per student for a year, compared with about $2,500 under the current Edmentum virtual program; the agreement bills per student at semester’s end. The board also approved, 4–0, a renewed agreement with WVU School of Medicine to provide orientation and mobility services to visually impaired students. It approved revisions to travel reimbursement policy and approved the schedule of checks and payment of bills, though no total amount was stated. A new special education teacher position was identified as county-funded, and a teacher administrative-certification program was discussed at a participant cost of $3,000.

The superintendent reported completed parking-lot sealing and striping at Preston High School, Bruceton, and Terra Alta, crediting V V V Pro Service and Osborne Brothers for the work. District staff also completed restroom and locker-room renovations, and administrators plan to assess outstanding maintenance work and prioritize further upgrades. The board approved, 4–0, an off-site practice request for Bruceton’s cross-country team. Staff reported progress toward preparing the Fellows Hill School property for sale and said they would contact Wiles Auction Service, previously selected to market it; no sale or new contract was approved at this meeting. Board members discussed a possible CTE advisory committee and other priorities, but took no action on those proposals.
