# Active Transportation Commission 9/21/2023

The City of Sacramento Active Transportation Commission met on September 21, 2023. Staff reported grant wins for the Norwood corridor and a transportation infrastructure adaptation effort, while noting that the Arden project did not receive funding and that staff would seek feedback from Caltrans. The Del Rio Trail was under construction and ahead of schedule; Central City Mobility work was largely expected to finish in fall 2023, with the Fifth Street two-way conversion planned for spring 2024. The Franklin Boulevard gap-closure project and Fruit Ridge Road Improvements were discussed as safety and active-transportation capital projects. For Fruit Ridge, engineering was estimated at about $980,000 and funded; construction was estimated at $9.6 million, with $3 million secured and approximately $6.5 million still needed. Staff said they would pursue ATP or SACOG funding. No project award or spending vote was taken.

Staff said Steer had been selected for the Transportation Demand Management ordinance update, with AIM Consulting supporting outreach; no contract amount or approval vote was stated. Commissioners discussed potential funding priorities for their annual reports—including expanded speed management, Safe Routes to School, e-bike lending and incentives, bike parking, quick-build bikeways, and Slow and Active Streets—and asked staff to develop cost estimates. Suggestions included quadrupling speed-management funding, providing at least 10 e-bikes in each district, and considering a $1 million e-bike incentive pilot, but these were discussion items rather than adopted budget decisions. The consent calendar passed on a motion, with no procurement details identified.
