# Select Board: October 6th, 2026

At the October 6, 2026 Milton Select Board meeting, members voted unanimously to cancel the town’s Flock automatic license plate reader contract and remove the cameras. The board discussed reviewing the police department’s ALPR policy and setting town requirements for data storage, access, and safeguards before considering any future vendor or system; no replacement procurement was approved. Members also discussed responses to the East Milton Fire Station RFP but took no action on selecting a proposal. A rough construction estimate of about $18 million was noted, with further design work needed before the figure is firm.

The board approved the scope of work for Phase 2 of an economic development plan with the Metropolitan Area Planning Council. Staff reported that the town’s solid-waste, yard-waste, and recycling contracts expire June 30 and are preparing an RFP, while awaiting a possible contract-extension proposal from current hauler Casella; options may include fully automated collection. The meeting also noted a $230,000 FEMA grant for firefighter breathing equipment, a $500,000 design grant for water-main and related infrastructure work, and $6.4 million in certified free cash. Discussion of a possible advisory group and consultant work for the former labor property continued, with no decision or spending approval; members favored seeking input from the Planning Board and planning director.
