# ERDC Tests JLOTS Beach-Mobility Technologies

On October 8, 2026, the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) described ongoing development and operational testing of ship-to-shore assessment and beach-mobility technologies for Joint Logistics Over the Shore (JLOTS) operations when ports are unavailable. ERDC is working with Jaia Robotics through a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) on nearshore assessment sensors and with Nearshore Logistics under an Other Transaction Authority (OTA) effort on beach-stabilization matting. Further field testing is planned, with a larger demonstration anticipated in 2027.

- The work signals Army interest in technologies supporting nearshore assessment and temporary mobility corridors in contested environments. Companies with relevant sensing, autonomous systems, or beach-mobility capabilities can use these technical priorities to assess their fit for future collaboration.
- ERDC’s CRADA and OTA efforts are existing collaboration mechanisms, not announced open solicitations. The signal provides no contract values, solicitation details, or procurement contacts.
- The planned field testing and anticipated 2027 demonstration give interested contractors a concrete development milestone to factor into capability planning; no submission deadline is identified.
