# SCSD Board of Education Meeting 10/08/2026

At the October 8, 2026, St. Charles School District Board of Education meeting, the board reviewed the district’s financial position and upcoming procurement and capital work. The district plans to advertise an RFP for lawn services, with bids expected for board review in November; it anticipates higher costs, in part due to fuel prices. HVAC projects at St. Charles West and Hardin are also expected to come to the board in November as bond-funded work. Clayton Engineering is assessing district facilities to prioritize concrete and asphalt repairs, and staff are beginning discussions about theater packages. The district expects a substantial technology purchase from Dell and plans to accelerate the purchase ahead of an anticipated February 1 price increase; the expense is expected to remain within budget. The safety review also noted that additional doors at the early childhood center were installed as an alternate bid under the Harris project, and that rekeying work is being completed in-house using cores purchased with 2021 bond funds.

The board approved the consent agenda, the annual School Safety Plan Program review, listed policy updates, and the district financial report. The superintendent cited a budget deficit and said employee counts are among the internal costs under consideration, with further discussion to include affected parties. A student proposed replacing the sophomore preACT with the junior-year PSAT, citing lower per-student test costs and potential savings of about $750 annually; the board took no action on the proposal. No contract award or new vendor selection was reported.
