# Peachtree City, City Council (Special Meeting) - Oct 8th, 2026

Peachtree City City Council special meeting, October 8, 2026: Council approved a FY2027 official-intent-to-finance resolution covering up to $4.66 million in budgeted capital equipment purchases—about $2.8 million from the FY2027 budget and $1.7 million carried forward from FY2026 because of production delays. Council also approved a $6 million transfer from general-fund reserves to the capital improvement fund for renovations to the police department facilities and public safety training facility/emergency operations center. Combined with $1 million already allocated and a $1.1 million Department of Homeland Security grant, the project has up to $8 million available. An RFP has been issued; staff said the final project cost and approval will return to council. The meeting also recognized two new ambulances purchased with 2023 SPLOST funds.

Council approved a temporary burn-ban suspension through April 30, 2027, for specified larger residential properties, subject to obtaining a city permit, with permit and complaint data to inform a later review. It approved a zoning text amendment on off-street parking requirements and an ordinance adding Rockaway Road to the streets restricted to through traffic by heavy trucks. The council held, but did not decide, a public hearing on maintaining the 5.840-mill property-tax rate. A proposed city yard-debris pickup program remained under preliminary discussion, with cost and budget analysis still needed; staff may bring options for compost-site hours to a future work session.
