# Tri-Creek School Corporation Board of School Trustees Meeting 10/8/2026

Tri-Creek School Corporation Board of School Trustees public budget hearing and regular meeting, October 8, 2026. The board heard the proposed 2027 budget, 2027–2031 bus replacement plan, and 2027–2029 capital projects plan; the budget is scheduled for adoption on October 22, so no budget adoption vote occurred at this meeting. The business director proposed an Operations Fund budget of about $9.83 million, a $15.45 million debt-service budget, and a $2.21 million referendum fund to address anticipated property-tax revenue losses. A $3.6 million transfer from the Education Fund to Operations was also planned for board consideration at adoption. The proposed referendum tax rate for 2027 is 10.5 cents, below the 17.38-cent maximum. Officials said that if the referendum fails on November 3, additional cuts and use of reserves may be required. No large capital purchases are anticipated in 2027; two buses are listed for replacement, while four buses ordered in 2025 remain reserved and may arrive in 2027. The district cited the roughly two-year bus delivery timeline and said orders can be canceled.

The board approved the athletics event-staff pay schedule, creation of an $18-per-hour non-CDL student transportation driver position, and sale, donation, or disposal of unneeded textbooks. It also approved a no-cost pilot Pokémon club and a $250 donation from Tech Credit Union for the Lowell High School boys soccer team. The Tri-Creek Education Foundation separately announced more than $25,000 in competitive teacher grants and $41,933 in total grant contributions for the year; these were foundation-funded awards, not board-approved district contracts. Other updates included ongoing facility renovations, concern that proposed federal E-Rate changes could affect about $100,000 in annual telecommunications support, and the district’s transition from Canvas to Google Classroom following budget reductions.
