# 10/08/26 Stormwater Management Commission

The Metro Nashville Stormwater Management Commission meeting on October 8, 2026, considered three variance cases; no procurement actions, contract awards, vendor selections, or project budget approvals were identified. The Commission approved Nashville Distillery’s request for continued mowing and maintenance and relocated buffer signage at Whites Creek, after the applicant proposed a 75-foot protected zone, limits on mowing, and reporting and event-notification requirements. It also approved the Royal Parkway Airport Hotel’s request for compensating cut below the two-year flood elevation, with conditions to work with staff on the planting plan and on any construction-related bedrock impacts affecting the proposed cut. A requested conservation greenway easement was discussed but was not made a condition of approval.

The Commission also approved Metro Water Services’ Dry Creek floodwall and stream-relocation variance, previously conditionally approved, to support flood protection at the wastewater treatment facility. The project involves floodway and buffer disturbance, uncompensated fill, and stream relocation; the applicant described FEMA-supported work prompted by the 2010 flood, which caused about $4 million in equipment damage and more than 1 billion gallons of wastewater overflow. The applicant said an approved CLOMR was in place, while an Army Corps permit remained pending. The Commission’s votes concerned land-use and stormwater variances, not procurement or spending approvals.
