# LPSB - Board Insurance Committee Meeting - October 7, 2026

The Lafayette Parish School System Board Insurance Committee met on October 7, 2026. The committee approved a timeline and authorized staff to proceed with an RFP for 403(b) investment and advisory services. The solicitation will prioritize lowering participant costs, consolidating legacy accounts, and expanding employee education. The plan holds approximately $17 million in legacy accounts and $11 million in active-member payroll contributions, about $28 million total. Empower is the current recordkeeper, and the last RFP was conducted in 2017. A superintendent-appointed committee will evaluate and rank up to three proposers; finalists will present to the Insurance Committee, which will recommend a selection to the School Board for final approval. The motion passed unanimously, with three votes in favor.

The committee also received updates on 2027 benefits open enrollment and an upcoming employee benefits fair featuring more than 20 vendor representatives. Staff reviewed health-plan claims and costs, including network discounts and Medicare plan experience; no new health-plan contract award or purchasing action was taken during these updates. Previously approved added dental and vision benefits for the Humana Medicare Advantage plan are scheduled to take effect January 1, 2027. The committee also approved its September 2 meeting minutes.
