# Latvia Receives First Mednieks Vehicle

The Latvian Armed Forces have received the first Mednieks infantry fighting vehicle, based on the ASCOD platform and modified to Latvia’s requirements. Latvia’s Ministry of Defense ordered 42 vehicles in January 2025 and exercised an option for 42 more in June 2025, bringing the program total to 84 vehicles, with deliveries planned through 2029. The contract value was not disclosed, and Latvian firms are participating in contract fulfillment and maintenance.

- The combined 84-vehicle order creates opportunities for Latvian suppliers and service providers supporting production, fulfillment, and sustainment.
- Contractors can assess potential work related to the ASCOD-based fleet and its maintenance as deliveries continue through 2029.
- GDELS-Santa Bárbara Sistemas is the prime contractor; Elbit Systems is identified as the weapon-station supplier.
