# 10-6-26 Historic District Commission

The City of Holland Historic District Commission met on October 6, 2026. It approved the prior meeting minutes and voted to table the 240 West 10th Street application until November at the applicant’s request. The commission approved certificates of appropriateness for a two-stall garage at 12 West 12th Street; a garage door replacement at 65 West 14th Street, allowing either proposed window orientation; HardiePlank fiber-cement siding at 69 West 13th Street; and a carriage-house ADU at 129 West 12th Street, including the cut sheets presented. It also approved porch and window work at 232 West 10th Street, with a graspable handrail, staff review of the final window specifications, a preference for the four-window arrangement, and trim matching the existing main-level windows; eave work at 188 West 11th Street; a deck, sliding door, and window changes at 203 West 9th Street; and gutters at 213 West 10th Street.

After a public hearing, the commission approved a notice to proceed for demolition of the existing garage at 84 West 14th Street under criterion D, citing community and neighbor support, the proposed addition of housing, and the intention to respect the historic character. The proposed ADU will return for review at a later date; commissioners discussed its intended use for family and the city’s existing ADU requirements, including owner occupancy and dedicated parking. No procurement, contract awards, vendor selections, or spending approvals were identified; the actions concerned historic-district preservation and property design approvals.
