# 10-7-26 City Council Meeting

The City of Holland City Council’s regular meeting on October 7, 2026, approved its consent agenda in one motion. Procurement-related items included a Holland Ice Park Pavilion signage sponsorship contract, Windmill Island Gardens design-services contract, entertainment agreements for the International Festival of Holland, and several other agreements and licenses. Council also approved an amendment to a Brownfield plan and set a public hearing for another Act 381 Brownfield plan. It established an industrial development district; council clarified that this does not itself grant a tax exemption, but allows future tenants to apply for one. Separately, council accepted a $650,000 donation from Vo Kids for future phases of the Holland Bike Park.

Council adopted resolutions of necessity and scheduled October 21 final-assessment hearings for several business districts. Washington Square’s proposed assessment would raise just over $9,500 from 13 commercial properties for operations, maintenance, marketing, and events; the downtown PSD’s recommended assessment remained unchanged. For downtown parking and snowmelt, staff recommended 5% increases, citing rising snow-removal and repair costs, and council advanced those assessments to the hearing stage. No final assessments were approved at this meeting.
