# Park Board - 10.07.26

The City of Minnetonka Park Board met on October 7, 2026. Staff reported that the city had applied for approximately $1.2 million in Minnesota DNR habitat-restoration funding over three years for work at several parks, including a Lone Lake Park restoration with the Nine Mile Creek Watershed District; any required match would come from the existing stewardship fund. The city also applied for a $75,000 Hennepin County grant toward lighting at Big Willow Park’s southeast baseball field, with the baseball association funding the remainder and no city funds anticipated for the lights. A separate $300,000 grant application would support amenities and accessibility at Glen Lake Skate Park, in addition to $1.3 million in existing CIP funding and a previously awarded $400,000 LCCMR grant. Staff also reported receiving a $9,770 Hennepin County youth activities grant for new Shady Oak Beach inflatables in 2027. These were updates on applications and funding, not new grant awards or spending approvals by the Board.

The Board received seasonal reports on Shady Oak Beach and the Lone Lake Park mountain-bike trail, including beach closures related to E. coli, trail use and volunteer maintenance. Staff outlined upcoming park planning work and reported that community-center remodeling is expected to affect programming in early 2027. The Board also heard about changes to its city-approved ordinance, including a voting youth/young-adult member position and an annual work plan. No contract awards or procurement approvals were recorded.
