# Fair Rent Commission 10-07-2026

The Norwalk Fair Rent Commission met on October 7, 2026. It approved the September minutes with corrections and reviewed open rent complaints, taking no action on several matters pending lease renewals, responses, or withdrawal paperwork. The Commission closed cases where complaints had been resolved or were no longer being pursued, including one involving a proposed increase from $1,850 to $2,150 and another involving a $100 increase and a negotiated 30-day move-out provision. It also accepted new complaints involving a $374 Section 8 contract increase, a reported $750 increase at 10 Willard Road, and a reported $700 increase at 47 Second Street; it declined to accept a complaint about enforcement of a smoke-free building policy after the tenant had moved out and the issue was determined to be outside the Commission’s jurisdiction. No procurement, contract awards, or purchasing decisions were identified.

The coordinator reported assisting tenants with rent increases, eviction processes, flooding preparedness, and housing conditions. The Commission discussed the requirement to provide heat when temperatures fall below 65 degrees, with a commissioner confirming a change from the previously understood October 15 date. Members also discussed representation at the City’s October 20 boards and commissions open house.
