# Denmark Selects Thales for Faroe Islands Radar

Denmark’s Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation selected Thales to replace the aging secondary surveillance radar at the Sornfelli site in the Faroe Islands. The RSM NG system is intended to support civil air traffic control and Danish military air management, and will integrate with a separately contracted Lockheed Martin TPY-4 primary radar. Thales says delivery and installation will take six months without interrupting existing service; the RSM NG contract value was not reported. The separate three-radar TPY-4 procurement was reported at $610 million.

- The procurement combines secondary and primary radar capabilities at Sornfelli, creating a dual-use airspace surveillance system for civil and military operations.
- The reported $610 million value applies to the separate three-radar TPY-4 procurement, not the Thales RSM NG contract.
- Radar suppliers and integrators may find relevant experience in interoperability with existing systems and installation that maintains uninterrupted service important for similar surveillance procurements.
