# Board Meeting

At its October 7, 2026 board meeting, Assumption Parish Schools approved several spending-related items. The board approved state one-time stipends under Executive Order JML 26-047 and a district stipend for employees excluded from the order; the superintendent recommended extending the stipend to all employees, with an estimated additional cost of about $160,000. Payments are for employees active on the November 20 payroll. The board also approved revisions to the 2026–27 salary schedule, a CEV Multimedia LLC quote, out-of-state travel and $50 per student for four Assumption High School FFA members attending the National FFA Competition, and a quote for the Pierre Part Elementary School gym HVAC systems. Quote amounts and the HVAC vendor were not stated. It approved carrying over remaining 2025–26 Head Start funds for a playground at Labadieville Elementary and repairs at other sites.

The first-quarter budget update reported $9.71 million in expenditures and an approximately $2.9 million deficit for July–September; about $2.5 million was budgeted for facilities and construction work. The district noted that stipends were not yet included in the budget figures and that state MFP funds had been withheld pending board approval. Staff reported projected LA4 salaries and benefits of $541,885 against anticipated revenue of $491,040, a projected $50,845 shortfall. The board also received the 2026–27 pupil progression plan for information. Administrators raised concerns that the district’s new Assembly/LSBA policy-services arrangement requires in-house staff to implement legislative changes—41 acts affecting 27 policies, including four acts requiring policies the district does not currently have—and said they were seeking clarification and communicating with Forethought about possible additional support; no related contract decision was made.
