# August 24, 2026 School Board Meeting

The August 24, 2026 LexRich5 school board meeting included updates on bond-funded and other capital projects across the district. Newly completed work included additions at Chapin and Lake Murray elementary schools, gym and locker-room renovations, HVAC replacements, cafeteria furniture, signage, and safety improvements at 11 schools, including an 800 MHz bi-directional antenna system at Chapin High School that was still being commissioned. Dutch Elementary construction documents were submitted to the state for review, with bidding targeted no later than October 2026. A recommendation on an architect for the Chapin transportation bus depot was expected in late October or early November; inclusion middle-school fields, video scoreboards, and press boxes were also in progress. The board received no capital contract award or bid-approval proposal, and no project costs or vendors were specified. Members discussed maintenance funding and project timing. The CFO reported that June financials were preliminary: property-tax revenue was about $4 million above projection, while state aid to classrooms was about $2.6 million below projection; final June figures were expected in December.

The board approved, 6–0, an addendum to the memorandum of understanding with the Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission for after-school programming, and approved the second and final reading of the non-resident student admission policy. The policy’s baseline fee is tied to the prior year’s per-pupil tax revenue—described during discussion as averaging about $10,000 per student—and board members were told this approach reflects a state mandate. A proposed third-party parent survey on student Chromebook usage was removed from the agenda by a 5–1 vote. The board also discussed public-participation and board-records policies; consideration of revisions to the public-participation policy was deferred pending legal counsel’s wording. No other procurement award or purchasing decision was identified.
