# BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING - Jul 20 2026

The Newberry County Board of Trustees meeting, called to order as the July 20, 2026 meeting, approved a resolution for a $5.38 million general obligation bond. The board discussed eligible facility and athletic improvements, bond proceeds’ tax-exempt use requirements, and the requirement to obligate 5% within six months of closing and spend all proceeds within three years. A high school tennis-court project was to be removed from the improvement list because work had already begun. The board also heard that $174,000 in June technology construction fund expenditures covered furniture, HVAC work, and office-phone replacements; these were reported expenses, not new awards. Operations staff reported tennis-court resurfacing and maintenance work, including delays with work subcontracted by the Bud Group.

The procurement report listed three emergency purchases totaling $11,000 for portable toilets, a fire panel, and sewer-line repairs, and $584,000 in sole-source procurements, including K–3 reading materials. Minority-business spending of $854,000 for January through June was presented for information only, with no board action. Separately, the board approved a first reading of a student-transfer policy revision, including removal of a sentence about holding community meetings and plans to publish school-capacity information; this was not a procurement action.
