# City Council - 10/6/26

At the October 6, 2026 regular meeting of the MyGlendale City Council, members approved several purchasing and contract actions. By a 3–2 vote, the council adopted plans and specifications for the Glendale Sports Complex Field 3 artificial-turf project (Specification No. 3800-74) and authorized staff to advertise for bids; this was not a contract award. The project was described as costing about $1.3 million. Members discussed heat, environmental and maintenance concerns, and the mayor asked staff to report on alternative field technologies and ways to offset water use. The council unanimously approved a three-year, $337,090 professional-services agreement with ReCreate Waste Collaborative LLC for waste outreach and regulatory-compliance services, with direction for staff to identify and report back on uses for an additional $113,000 in hauler contributions. It also unanimously approved extending Trio Community Meals LLC’s elderly nutrition agreement through November 30, 2028, with meal-rate increases of 6% in December 2026 and 3% in December 2027; the stated two-year renewal option was $1.1 million. A separate resolution waived competitive bidding and established Teleflex Medical Supplies Corporation as the standard vendor for intraosseous medical equipment and supplies, correcting the prior authorization to $45,000 per year through June 2028.

The council adopted an ordinance regulating personal delivery devices on public rights-of-way, allowing operation only under city agreements with up to two vendors; it passed 4–1. Members raised data-privacy questions for staff to consider in the agreements. The council also unanimously authorized outside legal services under fee-capped retainer agreements and approved settlements of $45,000 and $150,000. In a legislative-session presentation, Assembly Member Nick Schultz reported state funding including $10 million to launch a post-production tax incentive program, $71,000 for a Glendale wildfire-response helipad, and about $1.5 million for Glendale Police Department. These were reported as state-level funding wins, not council contract awards. Residents also raised concerns about proposed water-rate adjustments, but no rate decision was taken at this meeting.
