# October 6, 2026 Heritage Preservation Commission

The Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Commission’s regular meeting on October 6, 2026, considered two National Register of Historic Places nominations. The commission recommended that the Minneapolis Spokesman and St. Paul Recorder Headquarters Building at 3744 Fourth Avenue South and the Harry Davis Senior and Charlotte Davis House at 3621 Portland Avenue each meet at least one National Register eligibility criterion, and directed staff to send its comments to the State Historic Preservation Officer. The first motion passed unanimously, 8–0; the second passed with seven votes in favor and one abstention. The nominations recognize the properties’ connections to African American history, civil rights, community leadership, and local media. Staff noted that the nomination work was funded through a National Park Service Underrepresented Communities grant and that National Register listing is honorary, though federal funding or permits could trigger review under Section 106.

The commission also approved the agenda and September 22 meeting minutes, and staff announced that a November meeting would be held on a Monday due to Election Day. No contract awards, purchasing decisions, or other procurement actions were identified.
