# Hancock County, IN - 10/6/2026 Commissioners, Drainage Board, Sewer District, & Solid Waste Meeting

The Hancock County, Indiana, Commissioners, Drainage Board, Sewer District, and Solid Waste meetings were held October 6, 2026. Procurement and project matters included posting an RFP for microtransit services and receiving three RFQ responses for a courthouse annex expansion feasibility study—from DLC Indiana, American Structure Point, Inc., and Lancer Associates. The commissioners voted to take the responses under consideration; no selection was made. They also approved an Amplify request for $42,891 and an AIM human-resources membership for $3,130. The county reported approximately $670,000 in efficiencies from the 6 West project to be redirected to other projects. Highway staff said microsurfacing was complete and chip sealing was nearing completion; plans for the 500 West and 300 North intersection had been reduced and appeared to favor a signal, while a roundabout would be at the developer’s cost. Highway garage design and construction planning with vendors was underway, and four walls and windows were expected to be contracted separately. Two Community Crossings grant applications were submitted, with partial awards anticipated.

Other actions included approval of $3,788.22 in out-of-state travel expenses for sheriff’s department staff, surplus of vehicle kennel and transport-divider parts for auction, and approval of a policyholder disclosure notice for terrorism insurance coverage under a pollution policy with $3 million in coverage. The Drainage Board approved claims, drainage variances and encroachments, and INDOT drain-crossing and structure-replacement work; it also authorized preparation of a surveyor’s report on a possible drain reconstruction. In the Solid Waste District discussion, staff reported submitting a material-management grant application and explored—but did not approve—a possible business-sponsored recycling arrangement estimated at $2,500 per month. The district tabled its proposed interlocal agreement for further legal review. No vendor award was made for the feasibility study, and no other major purchasing award was identified.
