# SLCSD Board Meeting, October 6, 2026 4:30 PM

The Salt Lake City School District Board meeting on October 6, 2026, approved the consent agenda unanimously. Items discussed included funding for Panorama and HVAC upgrades at Dilworth, Highland Park, and North Star schools, with Harris Mountain West LLC named in connection with the HVAC work; contract amounts were not stated. The board received construction updates on the Highland and West high school projects. Highland bids came in about $25 million above initial expectations, with just under $8 million removed from the scope; the project was described as proceeding within its available budget and contingency. West’s first phase was about $5 million under projection and roughly three weeks ahead of schedule. The district reported $730 million in voter-approved bonds for the projects and discussed managing construction costs, contingencies, and bond financing.

The board was told that an RFQ for the East High fieldhouse design team was being prepared for posting by the end of October, followed by a future RFQ for qualified general contractors. The board also reviewed preliminary 2025–26 finances, including a $6.665 million general-fund deficit and $80.303 million remaining fund balance, and discussed improving budget and capital-reserve reporting. Separately, the board voted to advance and approve a tax-increment-financing policy with wording edits but no substantive changes. It also voted to enter closed session to discuss litigation and real-property matters; no related decisions were reported publicly. The early-literacy framework discussion identified state-funded coaching and paraprofessional support, but no new procurement action was taken.
