# Animal Matters Commission | October 5th, 2026

The Animal Matters Commission considered one dog-on-dog attack case at its October 5, 2026 meeting (the meeting metadata lists October 6). Animal Services described a September 29 incident in which a dog escaped the control of a juvenile handler and injured another dog, which required emergency surgery. The dog’s owner acknowledged the incident and agreed to the discussed conditions. The commission voted unanimously to uphold a modified potentially dangerous dog order: requirements discussed included a muzzle, harness and leash, property posting, licensing and landlord permission, and restricting walks to handlers age 18 or older; home modifications such as a six-foot fence were excluded. The commission also accepted the September minutes and deferred the August minutes because the required attendees were not present. No procurement or spending activity was identified.
