# City Council Meeting - October 5, 2026

The City of Renton City Council’s October 5, 2026 meeting included a public hearing on proposed 2027 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) allocations. Staff estimated Renton’s entitlement at just over $650,000, with King County retaining 25% for its housing repair program and a smaller administrative share; the city’s proposed share included about $65,000 for administration and $315,000 for Windsor Hills Park improvements, including replacement play equipment, site furnishings, and ADA access improvements. The hearing was closed, but no final project award was made at this meeting. Speakers also urged the city to fund phase two of the Renton Rowing Center dock replacement through the 2027–28 budget; that request was not acted on. A public hearing on the data center moratorium drew support for continuing it, with no decision taken. Public speakers also called for cancellation or nonrenewal of the city’s Flock camera contract; the council took no action on that request.

The council adopted three utility-related ordinances on final reading, covering utility rates, payment priority, and rate provisions. No procurement award was identified. Upcoming Finance Committee business includes amendment No. 1 to Contract Agreement 2682 with BHC Consultants for professional plan-review services, a 2027 healthcare management administrator agreement renewal, and Kaiser Permanente premium rates; these items were announced for future consideration, not approved at this meeting. The council also scheduled a public meeting for October 19 to hear testimony and consider whether to take positions on two state ballot initiatives.
