# 2026-10-05 Village of Lisle Committee of the Whole

The Village of Lisle Committee of the Whole met on October 5, 2026, and reviewed an update on the Police Department Range Modernization Project. Assistant Public Works Director Barbier said the existing range air-handling unit has reached the end of its useful life and that the range lacks air conditioning. The proposed project includes HVAC replacement and upgrades to the stalls, lighting, bullet trap, and flooring. A traditional design-and-bid approach was estimated at approximately $1.6 million to $2 million; Midwest Mechanical proposed completing the full scope for $764,000 through cooperative purchasing contracts. With $232,000 rolled over from the prior year, a $532,000 budget amendment would be needed. Staff said the proposal and amendment would be placed on the October 19 Village Board agenda.

Trustees discussed the cost, year-round usability, and operational benefits of an in-house range compared with using outside facilities. Board members expressed consensus to continue with the project and budget amendment, but no formal procurement award or budget-amendment vote occurred at this meeting. The village manager said fund balance should be sufficient to accommodate the amendment.
