# Bike Walk Commission 10-05-2026

The Norwalk Bike Walk Commission met on October 5, 2026, to discuss pedestrian and bicycle safety, outreach, events, and infrastructure. Staff reported that paving-related pavement markings and crosswalks are expected before colder weather, while several projects discussed with the Transportation, Mobility and Parking (TMP) team—including Chestnut Hill Road/Field Street and George Avenue designs—remain under design and are being prepared to go out to bid. No bid approvals, contract awards, vendor selections, or project dollar amounts were reported.

Commissioners discussed the logistical and financial demands of a possible 2027 Open Streets event and agreed to consider forming a planning subcommittee. A commissioner requested a budget discussion at the next meeting about purchasing a table for outreach events; staff agreed to add it to the agenda, with no purchase approved. Other discussion included a school walking-and-biking toolkit, e-bike safety outreach and proposed Board of Education policy changes, the Norwalki Award, and annual planning. The commission approved the September 14 meeting minutes and adjourned unanimously.
